Who it is for

People whose role, industry or sense of professional direction is being rewritten by AI, new business models, life changes or all three at once.

What it is

A coming-soon book and practical method for creating several credible career futures, then building options that remain valuable across more than one of them.

Why it exists

Because most career advice asks you to choose a destination just as the map, the transport and your reasons for travelling are changing underneath you.

The problem

The five-year plan has become a very confident guess.

Most career planning starts with one desired future: choose the role, identify the gap and climb toward it. That works beautifully when the ladder stays where you left it.

But roles are being decomposed into tasks. AI is changing the value of expertise faster than job titles can keep up. Industries are colliding. The life you want at forty may not resemble the ambition you borrowed at twenty-five.

The answer is not to predict harder. Nor is it to surrender to permanent reinvention and spend every Sunday evening learning whichever skill LinkedIn discovered that week.

You do not need one perfect career plan. You need a career that gives more than one future somewhere useful to land.

TomorrowWork takes scenario planning out of the corporate strategy room and applies it to a working life. The aim is not to make you immune to change. It is to make change less capable of removing every option at once.

Start with the worlds

Four futures worth preparing for

Not predictions. Provocations. Your version will be more specific, but these four tensions are a useful place to begin.

Future 01

Your role expands

AI and new tools increase your leverage. The work grows around judgment, direction and the ability to make more ambitious things happen.

Future 02

Your role fragments

The job title survives but its tasks split between people, machines and specialists. Value moves to the pieces that are hardest to standardise.

Future 03

Your field shifts

New entrants, regulations, economics or technologies change what the industry rewards. Your experience remains useful, but in a different shape.

Future 04

You choose differently

Your health, family, appetite for risk or definition of enough changes. The disruption comes from inside the house, and may be the best one.

  1. Build worlds, not job-title predictions.

Name the forces changing your work, combine the most consequential uncertainties and describe a small set of futures different enough to demand different choices.

  2. Invest in no-regret assets.

Find the capabilities, relationships, reputation, proof and runway that stay valuable across several futures. Optionality is something you build before you need it.

  3. Run small bets and watch the signals.

Use ninety-day experiments to test a possible future cheaply: make the project, shadow the role, publish the thinking, learn with real stakes and notice which world is getting closer.

The working tools

A career strategy you can actually operate

The book is being designed as a field guide, with tools that produce decisions rather than a personality result.

Map

The Future Field

A one-page map of the forces, uncertainties and plausible worlds around your working life.

Signals

The Early-Warning Board

A deliberately short list of observable changes that tell you which future deserves more attention.

Assets

The Career Portfolio

Not just skills: evidence, relationships, reputation, experiments and runway, assessed against every scenario.

Action

The 90-Day Bet

One bounded move that buys information and creates an option without requiring you to blow up your life first.

Three books for uncertain tomorrows

The same scenario-planning instinct, adapted to three different scales: the organisation, the person and the career between them.
